TAVOLA ROTONDA / allestimento / installation

TAVOLA ROTONDA. Allestimento. Starhotels Rosa Grand, Piazza Fontana 3, Milano. Milano Design Weekend, 14 – 17/10/2010. /// TAVOLA ROTONDA. Installation. Starhotels Rosa Grand, Piazza Fontana 3, Milano. Milano Design Weekend, 14 – 17/10/2010. Studiocharlie has been invited to participate at Milan Design Weekend, an event created by Gruppo Mondadori and RCS MediaGroup, in the Milano Segreta section. Inside the path, Design Hotel, five design studios, selected by the art director Giulio Iacchetti, create suggestive installations about welcoming, inside five design hotels, the most exclusives of the city: Tavola Rotonda is the installation designed for this situation, a huge table in the middle of the hall of the Milan Starhotels Rosa Grand, where people coming from different parts of the world, guests of the hotel, can sit, relax and communicate and talk about their experiences. The Tavola Rotonda installation is generated from the observation of the great variety of people who attend the hotel: in a symbolic way all the chairs are one different from another, but they all meet around the big table in the common space of the hotel hall. The chairs, selected by Billiani’s production, have been reduced in height to be suitable for a relaxed use and they are all painted turquoise; the big table in the center is also turquoise, it’s created by joining other chairs reduced in height and without their backs. The installation is completed by two Ala rattan screens designed for Vittorio Bonacina, disposed following the circular shape of the big table. The screens, thanks to their concave shape and their semi-transparent texture, protect the habitat, defining a cosy and intimate space, inviting to conviviality.
